New DOT Med Card regulations in June

No more paper Med Cards. The DOT is moving to an all-digital system, but we’re ready for the new regs!
Attention TRUCKERS and FLEET MANAGERS:
After a 7-year delay, there are new regulations that implement the “Integration Rule” from the Department of Transportation (DOT). On June 23rd of this year, the DOT will end the use of paper medical cards and go to an all-digital system. This will make truckers’ lives a little easier. That’s because, after getting their med card renewed, they will no longer need to take it to the Michigan Secretary of State. Instead, the FMCSA division of DOT will send the renewed certification (uploaded by us docs) to state agencies. Fleet managers will still need to keep tabs on their drivers’ certifications to ensure they are current, or they could face fines. Village Health doctors are ready for the new regs. We ensure that the drivers’ renewal certifications are uploaded before the card is given (see below).
The new paperless system will be convenient for truckers, who will no longer have to carry the paper card (or long form certificate). State police who pull a driver over will simply check the state’s own records to verify the driver’s certification. We, at Village Health Urgent and Family Care, have been performing DOT medical certification exams for local truckers for 17 years. We’re ready for the new regs! Our FMCSA-certified doctors upload your certificate to the agency’s website and scan the card and long form certificate into the system BEFORE you leave our premises.
So, both driver and fleet manager can rest easy come June 23rd! You can walk out of here secure in the knowledge that proof of your med card certification has been uploaded to the FMCSA. Plus, we retain a copy in our secure, backed-up server system! So come on in for your Med Card renewal or first-time exam. We have extended hours for over-the-road truckers: M-F open 8a-8p; Sat. 8a-2p. Call ahead at (586) 752-7256 to let us know you’re coming in!
